Sean Hewitt perfectly captures the still feeling we each experience in the presence of untamed nature. Each poem made me ache in ways I only half understand. They are deeply rooted yet otherworldly, explaining the world in ways I had not heard before but which ring true. I want to take Lantern out into the woods near my house because while reading it I felt like I was there.
From the first poem, Leaf, something in me was breaking, cracking open. It didn’t let up. Each page is full of sensual writing, doused in emotion that catches the reader unawares.
